Men’s Basketball Readies for Ball State Saturday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Following its first road MAC win of the season, the Western Michigan men's basketball team will resume play Saturday, Feb. 8 on its home court against MAC West foe Ball State.

Scouting the Broncos
With the Mid-American Conference tournament just over a month away the Broncos currently sit with an overall record of 10-12 and 3-6 in conference play. WMU is coming off a 64-60 victory on Tuesday at Miami, marking its first road MAC win since Feb. 23, 2018.

1,000 in Sight for Michael Flowers
Junior guard Michael Flowers looks to etch his name into the WMU record book, needing just 27 points to become WMU's 43rd member of the 1,000-point club. Flowers this season leads the Broncos with 17.9 points per game.

Flowers Blooming
Dating back to last season, Flowers has scored in double figures in 26 straight games.

Home Sweet Home
The Broncos are 7-3 at home this season and are averaging 78.4 points per game inside University Arena. In WMU's seven victories at home the Brown & Gold are winning by an average margin of 8.7 points.

White on Track
Freshman guard B. Artis White's 178 points is the 11th most by a freshman in a single-season under head coach Steve Hawkins. White ranks third on the team with 8.5 points per game and third on the team during MAC play at 10.3 points per game.

Block the Barrs
Freshman Chase Barrs ranks second on the team with 13 blocks during the 2019-20 campaign. Barrs has registered four blocks over the past five games and at least one in three of the last four.

Scouting the Competition
Ball State heads into Saturday's contest on a two-game win streak and has an overall record of 13-9 and 6-3 in MAC play. The Cardinals defeated Ohio last Saturday at home 65-54 prior to beating Kent State on the road 62-54 on Tuesday.

The Cardinals are led by the duo of Tahjai Teague and Ishmael El-Amin who are the lone pair of Cardinals to be averaging in double figures this season. Teague is nearly averaging a double-double, leading the team with 15.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
