KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan head men's basketball coach Kahil Fennell has announced the signing of Detroit native Jordan Sigmon, the highest-rated high school recruit in program history per 247Sport's recruiting database.
A 5-11 guard, Sigmon began his high school career at Renaissance High School in Detroit before transferring to Iowa United Prep for his senior season. He is a three-star recruit and ranks as the #189 high school player in the nation in the 2026 class per the latest 247Sports composite rankings. The rankings have him listed as the country's #23 point guard, number five player in Iowa, and rated higher than any other high school prospect from the state of Michigan. He also had offers from Alabama, LSU, Vanderbilt, Akron and Toledo, among others.
While playing in Iowa this season, Sigmon averaged 3.9 assists per contest, which ranked him 11th on the prestigious Nike EYBL Scholastic circuit. He also posted a 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio, the sixth-best in the league. In his debut for Iowa United last November, he went 8-for-13 from the field and hit 5-of-6 three-point attempts to net a game-high 21 points. He also had a pair of season-high eight assist performances, including in a victory over Dream City Christian in January.
Sigmon spent the first three years of his high school career at Renaissance High School, where he was named Mr. PSL after helping lead the Phoenix to a league title during his junior season. He earned BCAM's Best accolades following that junior campaign, and also picked up BCAM's Best Honorable Mention after his sophomore season.
