Men’s Basketball Readies for Ball State Tuesday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Fresh off its first Mid-American Conference victory of the season the Western Michigan men's basketball team will host Ball State in the final game of the year 2020 on Tuesday, Dec. 22 inside University Arena.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into its Tuesday's match-up with an overall record of 2-4 and 1-0 in conference play. The Broncos are fresh off a 76-61 victory over in-state rival Central Michigan to begin MAC play 1-0 for the second consecutive year.

Within Single Digits
Since 2012 the Broncos and Cardinals have met 20 times with 13 of those match-ups being decided by 10 points or less. Three of the past five meetings have been decided by single digits.

Two Decades of Home Dominance
Since 2000, WMU holds a 17-5 advantage over Ball State at home. From 2010-2020, WMU was 9-3 against Ball State inside University Arena.

Lee Looking Good in the Brown & Gold
Senior Greg Lee posted his first double-double as a Bronco last Friday against CMU with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Over the past three games Lee has averaged 16.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

Balanced Offense
Western Michigan has four players averaging in double figures with sophomore guard B. Artis White leading the way at 14.5 points per game.

Lockdown Defense
WMU is near the top in multiple defensive categories within the Mid-American Conference:
• Scoring Defense – 2nd (64.3 ppg)
• Opponent Field Goal Percentage – 2nd (.398)
• Opponent Three-Point Field Goal Percentage – 3rd (.277)

Cleaning the Glass
Sophomore center Titus Wright ranks fourth in the MAC with 3.0 offensive rebounds per game. Wright has a team-high 18 offensive rebounds this season.

Lock with a Halftime Lead
Over the past four seasons, WMU is 42-12 when leading at halftime

On the Horizon
Following Tuesday's contest the Broncos will be on Holiday break before returning to the court at home on Saturday, Jan. 2 against Toledo. WMU will then have back-to-back road games at Ball State (Jan. 5) and at Kent State (Jan. 9).
