Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan snapped its three-game losing streak with a 67-63 victory over Kent State on Saturday and now has an overall record of 9-9 and 2-3 in MAC play. The Broncos are led by the duo of junior
Michael Flowers and redshirt junior
Brandon Johnson who each are averaging over 15 points per game.
Flowers 40-40-80 Mark
Junior guard
Michael Flowers is one of just 24 players in the NCAA to be shooting 40 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and 80 percent from the free-throw line. Flowers along with Akron's Loren Christian-Jackson are the only two from the MAC to do so.
Fifth With 500
With its win over Kent State on Saturday, Western Michigan became the fifth MAC program to clinch 500 conference victories.
Flowers an Elite Scorer
Dating back to last season Flowers has scored in double figures in 22 straight games and ranks third in the MAC at 18.1 points per game. The Southfield, Mich. native also needs just 94 points to eclipse 1,000 for his career.
The Spark Plug
Junior
Rafael Cruz Jr. has been the spark plug off the bench for the Broncos this season averaging 7.9 points and 3.1 rebounds. Against Kent State, Cruz Jr. registered 11 points, five assists and three steals in 26 minutes of action.
Kick the Road Woes
WMU seeks its first MAC road victory since Feb. 23, 2017 at Ball State. The Broncos are 2-5 away from Kalamazoo and look for their first road win since Dec. 14 at Manhattan.
Scouting the Competition
Buffalo heads into Tuesday's contest riding a three-game win streak and an overall record of 12-6, 3-2 in MAC play. After beginning conference play 0-2 the Bulls have rebounded with victories over Miami, Ohio and Central Michigan.
The two-time defending MAC champions are averaging 79.8 points per game this season and have five players averaging in double figures. The Bull offense is led by Jayvon Graves at 16.6 points per game.
