Tough Road Test Awaits WMU Saturday at BGSU

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the second straight game Western Michigan men's basketball squares off with an opponent that is undefeated in Mid-American Conference play, traveling to Ohio for a showdown with Bowling Green on Saturday, Jan. 19.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into the match-up with the Falcons with an overall record of 6-11 and 0-4 in conference play. The Broncos have had one of the toughest starts to MAC play with their four opponents (Akron, Kent St., Toledo, Buffalo) posting a combined 49-15 record.

Four Score and Three Games Ago
The Broncos have had at least four players score in double figures in each of the past three games. During the three-game streak, senior Josh Davis and sophomore Michael Flowers lead the team with 17.0 points per game.

Davis Doing His Thing
Over the past three games Davis has taken his game to another level, averaging 17.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest. On Tuesday against No.16 Buffalo, Davis posted a season-high 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field.

Lift Off for Patrick
It was a career performance from freshman Patrick Emilien on Tuesday against No.16 Buffalo. Off the bench the Toronto, Canada native registered career-highs in points (12), three-pointers made (2), free-throws made (6), steals (2), blocks (2) and minutes (25).

The Bench Makes It's Mark
When WMU scores at least 20 points off the bench, the Broncos have a record of 3-1.

Playing the Best Mid-Majors
Saturday's contest will mark the fourth straight game WMU has played a team that is ranked or receiving votes in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25. Bowling Green received eight votes in the latest ranking.

Senior Seth Dugan has continued to have a successful senior campaign, ranking high in multiple statistical categories within the MAC:
• Rebounding – 4th (8.3rpg)
• Field Goal Percentage – 4th (53.7%)
• Minutes – 14th (31.6mpg)
• Blocks – 13th (0.9bpg)

Scouting the Opponent
Bowling Green heads into Saturday's contest riding an eight-game win streak and an overall record of 12-5, 4-0 in MAC play. The Falcons last Saturday defeated Central Michigan, 97-87 in overtime before beating Ball State on Tuesday, 79-78. At the Stroh Center, BGSU is a perfect 9-0.

The Falcon offense is led by Justin Turner who leads the team with 19.6 points per game. Demajeo Wiggins ranks second on the team with 13.5 points per game while averaging 12.4 rebounds.
