Men’s Basketball Prepares for No. 16 Buffalo Tuesday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the first time since 2010, Western Michigan men's basketball will play host to a nationally ranked team as No.16 Buffalo visits University Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan prepares for its match-up with the Bulls with an overall record of 6-10 and 0-3 in MAC play. The Broncos are coming off a 77-85 loss against Toledo on Saturday as the Brown & Gold had four score in double figures.

Facing Ranked Opposition Once Again
It will be the second time this season the Broncos have played against a team in the Associated Press Top 25. Earlier this season WMU squared off with No. 5 Michigan and dropped a tight 62-70 contest. At No. 16 Buffalo is the highest ranked team to ever play inside University Arena.  

Last Ranked Opponent to visit Kalamazoo
It will be the first time the Broncos have hosted a ranked opponent inside University Arena since Nov. 27, 2010 when No. 19 Illinois defeated WMU, 78-63. It will be the first time WMU has hosted a ranked MAC school since No. 24 Eastern Michigan on Feb. 7, 1996.

Ranked Wins
November, 21, 2007 was the last time Western Michigan defeated a ranked opponent. The Broncos beat No. 25 Davidson and NBA star Steph Curry, 83-76.

Flowers Streak
Sophomore guard Michael Flowers has powered the Bronco offense this season, ranking ninth in the MAC with 16.6 points per game. Flowers has scored in double figures in each of the last 10 games.

Dugan Back On Track
Senior Seth Dugan in the past two games is averaging 16 points and nine rebounds while shooting a staggering 52.2 percent from the field. On Saturday against Toledo, Dugan registered his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Scouting the Opponent
Buffalo is off to its best start since 1930 with an overall record of 15-1 and 3-0 in conference play. The Bulls have spent 10 straight weeks in the AP Top 25, climbing as high as No. 14. The Bulls rank second in the MAC in both scoring offense (85.4 ppg) and scoring defense (69.4 ppg) with three players averaging in double figures.
