Assistant Coach Larry Farmer Inducted into UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame

LOS ANGELES – Western Michigan men's basketball assistant coach Larry Farmer has been inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame, the university announced on Wednesday.

As a player for the Bruins from 1970-73, Farmer played alongside Bill Walton and was a member of three NCAA championship teams during a stretch in which UCLA captured seven straight under legendary head coach John Wooden.

In addition, Farmer has the distinguished honor of being the winningest player in NCAA history, losing only once in 90 career games. In his illustrious career, Farmer averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Famer was drafted by Cleveland in the NBA and Denver of the ABA in 1973, before becoming an assistant at UCLA from 1973-81. Farmer then took over as head coach of the Bruins in 1981.

As head coach at UCLA, Farmer guided his alma mater to a three-year record of 61-23, including a pair of 20-win season and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. During the 1982-83 season, he coached the Bruins to a 23-6 mark, PAC-10 championship and No. 7 final national ranking.
 
As an assistant coach at WMU, Farmer works with the post players and was an integral part of developing the Broncos' first NBA player in over a decade in two-time All-MAC center Shayne Whittington. Farmer is in his second stint with the Broncos, have served as an assistant coach from 2010-12.
 
Other members of the UCLA Athletics 2018 Hall of Fame Class includes Nikki Blue (women's basketball), Kevin Chappell (men's golf), Lynn "Buck" Compton(baseball/football), Amanda Freed (softball), Jenny Johnson Jordan (women's volleyball), Eric Lindroth(men's water polo),and Stella Sampras Webster (women's tennis).
