Broncos Set for MAC West Showdown Saturday vs. Ball State

KALAMAZOO, Mich.  – After a brief two-game road trip the Western Michigan men's basketball team returns home on Saturday, Jan. 13 to square off with Mid-American Conference West Division foe Ball State inside University Arena.

The Broncos are back at home on Saturday, Jan.13 against MAC West foe Ball State in the second game of a doubleheader as women's basketball square off with Ohio at 2:00 p.m. Women's ticket holders can exchange their ticket stub following the game for a free men's game ticket.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan saw its four-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday as the Broncos fell to Toledo, 84-61 to drops its overall record to 10-6 and 2-1 in MAC play. This season, WMU is 5-2 at home and is currently on a seven-game win streak in home MAC regular season contests.

Double-Double for Wilder
Senior guard Thomas Wilder recorded the third double-double of his career on Tuesday night in Toledo, finishing the game with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Wilder had a career-high 23 field goal attempts as the Montgomery, Ill., native went 11-of-23 from the floor.

True Home Court Advantage
Under head coach Steve Hawkins, Western Michigan is one of the toughest places to play in the MAC as WMU holds a 97-26 record in conference home games. Overall, Hawkins and the Broncos have a 158-39 home record.

Moore Three's Bryce
Junior guard Bryce Moore is establishing himself as one of the premier three-point shooters in the MAC, ranking third in the conference with a .456 three-point field goal percentage. Moore leads the Broncos with 36 made three's.

Swiping the Competition
WMU ranks third in the MAC with 7.0 steals per game while Wilder ranks 26th in the NCAA in total steals with 36.

Get Offensive
Since the start of MAC play, the Broncos have been the best offensive rebounding team in the conference, averaging 13.3 offensive rebounds per contest. Junior Josh Davis leads the way for WMU in offensive rebounds and ranks third in the MAC, averaging 2.6 per game.

Scouting Ball State
Ball State has an overall record of 11-5, 2-1 in MAC play and is coming off a 75-68 road victory over Ohio on Tuesday. The Cardinals have recorded impressive victories this season, defeating Valparaiso at home and toppling No. 8 Notre Dame on the road. At 11-5, the Cardinals are receiving votes in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.

The Cardinals have three players averaging double figures with Tayler Persons leading the way with 14.4 points per game. Trey Moses leads Ball State in rebounding and ranks sixth in the MAC with 7.8 rebounds per game.
