  • The Broncos won their season opener for the first time since the 2005-06 season, when they defeated Northwood 82-62 at home on Nov. 19, 2005
  • WMU won a season opener away from home for the first time since the 1997-98 season, when they defeated Michigan 68-63 on Nov. 15, 1997
  • David Brown set a career-high with 25 points against the Aggies, surpassing his mark of 22 points set last year against Kent State
  • Kellen McCormick made his first career start in his first career game, scoring 14 points against the Aggies
  • Four players made their collegiate debuts for the Broncos - Kellen McCormick, Tucker Haymond, Von Washington, and Mario Matasovic
  • WMU shot 10-of-25 (.400) from three-point range against the Aggies, compared to just a 1-of-11 (.090) mark for New Mexico State
  • The win represented the first win for the Broncos against a current member of the Western Athletic Conference since Steve Hawkins became head coach of the Broncos
