KALAMAZOO -- Rivals.com has announced that Western Michigan all-time leading scorer David Kool is the Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Decade.
Kool finished his career in 2010 with 2,122 points, while also setting a MAC record with 605 made free throws. Kool was the 2006-07 MAC Freshman of the Year and three-time All-MAC honoree, including First Team nods in 2007-08 and 2009-10. In 2009-10, Kool was named MAC Player of the Year and AP Honorable Mention All-America. During his career, Kool has also compiled ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America and Academic All-MAC honors.
Kool finished his career by leading the conference in scoring with 17.9 points per game as a junior and 21.6 points per game as a senior.
Kool participated in the 2010 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament for 64 of the best senior basketball players in the country and also completed a workout with the Detroit Pistons last Friday.
