Men's Basketball Hosts Loyola on Saturday

KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan men's basketball team looks for its 12th home win in a row and 57th of the Steve Hawkins' tenure when it plays host to a second-straight Horizon League foe in Loyola on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The game will be available across the Bronco Radio Network and can be viewed live by Bronco Insider subscribers.

QUICK HITTERS

  • Today's game is WMU freshman center Muhammed Conteh's 20th birthday.
  • WMU has won 11 straight at home dating back to last season and are 56-9 overall since Steve Hawkins took over as head coach for the 2003-04 season.
  • David Kool was named MAC West Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Charleston Classic in scoring (24.3 ppg) and being named to the all-tournament team.
  • Loyola will be the second of three Horizon League opponents (Detroit, Green Bay) for WMU. The Broncos are 121-122 all-time against the current membership.
  • The Broncos have played more games against Loyola than any other non-conference opponent in school history. This game will be the 93rd meeting in a series that saw the two teams play at least once a year every season from 1946-47 to 1979-80.
  • WMU assistant coach Bacari Alexander and Loyola assistant Kevin Mondro spent six seasons as assistant coaches at Detroit and Mondro was on staff for each of Alexander's two years as a player (1997-98, 1998-99), in which the Titans went to two NCAA Tournaments.
