COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Western Michigan hockey alum Danny DeKeyser has been selected to represent the United States in the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Minsk, Belarus.

DeKeyser is coming off his first full season with the Detroit Red Wings in which he appeared in 69 games, scoring four goals and tallying 19 assists for 23 points. The blue-liner helped the Red Wings to a franchise record 23rd appearance in the NHL Playoffs.

Team USA opens up the tournament against hosts Belarus on Friday, May 9. This is the second-straight World Championship featuring a Bronco hockey alum as Patrick Dwyer played for Team USA during the 2013 World Championships, winning a bronze medal.
