KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Incoming freshman Tommy Lafreniere was named to the 2026 Team Canada World Junior Summer Showcase roster earlier this afternoon. 

The camp, which will feature practices and games between players from Canada, the United States, Finland and Sweden, will be held July 26-Aug. 1 at WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario. It's the first evaluation step for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The Canadian forward was dominant for the Kamloops Blazers this past season, producing 77 points on 41 goals and 36 assists in just 67 games. He added two goals an one assist during the playoffs. 

Following his season in juniors, Lafreniere played five games with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors. An Edmonton Oilers draft pick, Lafreniere was able to produce a goal and an assist in his quick professional hockey stint. He also tallied an assist during the AHL Playoffs.
