KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan continued its run of postseason awards with
Tyler MacKenzie and
Samuel Sjolund earning AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholar honors this afternoon.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA for each semester and had to appear in 40% of the team's games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and back-up goaltenders. Schools were also required to be members of the AHCA.
MacKenzie had a great first year on campus, concluding the season with a 3.81 GPA in Social Studies. On the ice, the Red Deer, Alberta native was able to post six assists and nine blocked shots in 29 games. He is on track to earn NCHC Distinghished Scholar-Athlete status later this summer.
Sjolund has been outstanding in the classroom throughout his four-year career at WMU. He is a four-time NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and maintained a 3.70 GPA in Psychology. He was just as good on the ice, leading all blue liners on the team with 29 points in 2025-26. He added 30 blocked shots and was +13 in 39 games.
