KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Western Michigan hockey program mourn the passing of Tom Auge, who recently passed away at the age of 57.
The Park Ridge, Ill. native spent four years in the Brown and Gold, totaling 109 points on 41 goals and 68 assists. He ranks 46th all-time in points at WMU and played in the third most games in program history. He won 72 games during his time at WMU.
Auge was instrumental to the team's success, stepping on to campus and immediately producing. During his first season in Kalamazoo, he notched 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists in 42 games. He followed that up with nine goals and 10 assists in 1988-89.
In his junior season, Auge would tally four goals while handing out 13 assists. That led to a career-best senior season in the Brown and Gold. Serving as the team's captain, Auge would produce 41 points on 15 goals and 26 assists. He was the program's Koha Gridner award recipient and a CCHA All-Academic First Team honoree that season.
