PLEASANT VALLEY, IOWA -- The Western Michigan University women's golf team sits in 11th place after two rounds at the Diane Thomason Invitational.

The Broncos ended the first day of play at the Davenport Country Club at 64 above par following 36 holes on Monday. WMU as a team shot rounds of 322-310 to end the day in 11th place overall with a total of 632. The Brown and Gold are only a stroke behind 10th place South Dakota heading into the final round of the Diane Thomason Invitational on Tuesday morning. Western Michigan is led by junior Lauren Lupinek at 15 above par while junior Saanvi Venkatesh is only two strokes behind at 17 over par.

Lupienk is currently tied for 42nd overall after carding rounds of 82-75 for a 36 hole score of 157. Venkatesh ended Monday with a total of 159 after she shot rounds of 77-82 to be tied for 50th overall on the individual leaderboard. The Broncos third and fourth golfers, freshman Annie Flavin and sophomore Danielle Daniy, finished with the same final score on Monday at 160 (+18). Flavin had rounds of 81-79 while Daniy carded rounds of 84-76.

WMU's final team golfer was senior Bella Brooks, who finished Monday at 162 (+20) following rounds of 82-80. Freshman Abigail Stendahl also completed both rounds on Monday as an individual with a total of 169 (+27).

Hosts Iowa currently leads the team portion of the tournament at 588 (+20) as they finished round one at 293 and round two at 295. Bowling Green junior Addison Kartusch leads all 80 individual golfers at 139 (-3) after rounds of 73-66 on Monday.

The Brown and Gold will wrap up the invite on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
