PLEASANT VALLEY, Iowa -- The Western Michigan University women's golf team is set for its third fall tournament at the Diane Thomason Invitational.

For the second straight season, the Broncos head west to the Hawkeye State to participate in the Diane Thomason Invitational. Hosted by Iowa, WMU will compete with 12 other teams through three rounds on Monday and Tuesday. Only one other Mid-American Conference tournament will be in Iowa, with the Brown and Gold, the Bowling Green Falcons. Other participating teams in the tournament are Bradley, Drake, hosts Iowa, Missouri State, Montana State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Omaha, South Dakota, and St. Thomas.

Unlike last year, the Diane Thomason Invitational will be played on a different course over an hour away from the Hawkeyes' home of Iowa City. This year's tournament will be held at the Davenport Country Club on its 6,210-yard course. The course features two creeks that golfers must play around on five holes across the 18, initially designed by Henry Shapland "Harry" Colt and Charles Hugh Alison. The 72 par course most recently underwent renovations in 2014 by Ron Forse and Jim Nagle of Force Golf Designs.

Last week, Western Michigan played a rain-shortened 36 holes at the Mary Fossum Invitational. The Broncos finished 12^th of 15 teams in the field at the tournament hosted by Michigan State. WMU had rounds of 324 (+36) and 317 (+29) over the two days to end the tournament at 65 over par. Junior Lauren Lupinek was the Brown and Gold's highest individual finisher with rounds of 77-79 to finish at 12 over par with 156 strokes to tie for 24^th.

The first round of the Diane Thomason Invitational is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST on Monday with a shotgun start. Western Michigan will tee off from holes 11, 12, 13, and 14 with six golfers competing in this week's tournament. The Bronco golfers making up the team score this week are freshman Annie Flavin, Lupinek, sophomore Danielle Daniy, junior Saanvi Venkatesh, and senior Bella Brooks, while freshman Abigail Stendahl is competing as an individual. WMU will play its first round of the day with golfers from Bowling Green, Bradley, and Omaha.
