Bronco golf finishes up their fall season at the Edisto Island Invitational

EDISTO BEACH, S.C. -- The Western Micighan University women's golf team will play its final tournament of the 2026-27 fall season this week.

The Broncos will look to continue their hot streak of play at the Edisto Island Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston. WMU will compete in the tournament held on the island along with 14 other teams. Of those 14 teams, the Brown and Gold have competed against only the Bradley Braves prior to this week. The 13 new teams Western Michigan will play against include hosts Charleston, Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Elon, Georgia State, Jacksonville, High Point, Presbyterian, Radford, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, West Georgia, and Western Carolina.

The 15 team field will compete at The Plantation Course at Edisto, a rare par 71 course on the tip of South Carolina. The course layout for this week's tournament is 5,980 yards and was designed by Tom Jackson in 1973 before being refurbished in 2006. Originally named the Oristo course, it features marsh, trees, water and sand to keep players challenged on the relatively short layout.

Bronco golf had one of their best weeks in program history as they hosted their annual Bronco Fall Classic at The Moors Golf Club in Portage. Sophomore Danielle Daniy became WMU's first player to win an individual tournament title in five years as she shot her second round under par to close out the classic with a final score of 212 (-4), giving her the second lowest total for a 54-hole performance in program history. As a team, the Brown and Gold carded rounds of 298-294-304 to finish at 896 (+32) for the program's ninth lowest total in a 56 hole tournament.  Over the course of three rounds at 69-72-71, Daniy was the only individual to finish the tournament under par to take the title and was named the MAC Women's Golfer of the Week for her efforts.

Western Michigan will begin its final tournament of 2026 on Monday morning for a shotgun start. The Broncos will play 36 holes on Monday before wrapping up with a final round on Tuesday, October 20.
