CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan University women's golf team earned its first Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honor in two years on Friday.

Sophomore Danielle Daniy broke another significant streak for the Broncos this week with her performance at the Bronco Fall Classic. Daniy was named the MAC Women's Golfer of the Week after earning the highest individual finish in the conference over the past week of play. She is the first WMU player to earn the weekly honor since Megha Vallabhaneni in 2024.

Over three rounds of the Bronco Fall Classic, Daniy became the first Brown and Gold golfer to win an individual tournament title in five years on Tuesday. Daniy shot her second round under par to close out the classic at The Moors Golf Club to help her win the title.

Daniy's overall tournament play of 212 is the second-lowest total for a 54-hole performance in program history. Having all three of her rounds at or under par, Daniy was the only individual to finish the tournament under par for her title win.

Daniy becomes only the 15th Bronco in program history to be named a MAC Women's Golfer of the Week going all the way back to 2000. She is the third person to earn the honor during the current decade, along with Vallabhaneni and Alissa Fish in 2021.

Western Michigan returns to play early next week at the Edisto Island Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston. It will be the Broncos' first time participating in the tournament and only the third time the program has competed in South Carolina. The tournament will be 54 holes across two days, starting on Monday, October 19, to close out WMU's fall season.
