Western Michigan golf hosts Bronco Fall Classic this week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan University women's golf team hosts its annual fall tournament the Bronco Fall Classic on Monday and Tuesday.

The Broncos will host an intimate field of teams for the 2026 edition of the Bronco Fall Classic during the week. WMU will welcome three teams to The Moors Golf Club in Portage on Monday and Tuesday for the tournament. Two of the three teams competed in last year's Bronco Fall Classic, the Dayton Flyers and the IU Indy Jaguars, with the Jaguars participating in their third straight version of the tournament. The Butler Bulldogs make their first appearance in the Brown and Gold's home tournament to round out the field for the 2026 Bronco Fall Classic.

Last year, Western Michigan won its home tournament for the program's first and only team win of the 2025-26 season. The Broncos had a total score of 926 (+62) with rounds of 301-302-323 back in October of 2025. WMU tied with Dayton who also carded a total score of 926. But it was junior Saanvi Venkatesh that helped the Brown and Gold earn the tournament title with a 56-hole score of 241 in 25th place. She ended the three rounds at five strokes above Dayton's fifth golfer to give Western Michigan the tiebreaker.

The Broncos have hosted all five iterations of their fall tournament at The Moors Golf Club in Portage dating back to 2016. The Moors is a par 72 course with a total course yardage of 6,831 yards originally designed by Arthur Hills in 1979. Notable features of WMU's home course include playing through the Woodbridge Hills housing development, multiple bridges along the walking paths, and playing next to protected marshlands.

The Brown and Gold finished in 11th at the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the Iowa Hawkeyes two weeks ago in their most recent tournament. Over three rounds Western Michigan had a final stroke total of 948 (+96). The Broncos carded rounds of 322-310-316 at the Davenport Country Club. Sophomore Danielle Daniy moved up 17 spots in the final round of the tournament for WMU's highest finish at 36th. Daniy shot only one above par in her last round of the week with a 73 after rounds of 84 and 76 on Monday for a stroke total of 233 (+20).

Both days of the tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m. EST with a shotgun start across the course. Bronco fans not able to make it out to The Moors Golf Club can follow along with live scoring.
