KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Western Michigan men's basketball program has earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for the 2024-25 academic year. Additionally, seven Broncos were named to the NABC Honors Court.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes men's basketball programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Western Michigan surpassed a 3.0 team GPA in both semesters, posting a 3.41 GPA in the fall and following that up with a 3.26 mark in the spring. The Broncos owned a 3.34 team GPA for the entirety of the academic year.
This year marks the sixth time WMU has received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. The Broncos are amongst the honorees for the fifth time in the past seven seasons, with Western Michigan also having earned the award in 2019, 2020, 2023 and 2024.
The seven student-athletes named to the NABC Honors Court is also a new record for Western Michigan. WMU's honorees are listed below:

JaVaughn Hannah – Sport Management, 3.84
Seryee Lewis – University Studies, 3.20
Brandon Muntu – University Studies, 3.74 GPA
Jack Stefanski – Criminal Justice, 3.92 GPA
Markhi Strickland – University Studies, 3.43 GPA
Chansey Willis Jr. – University Studies, 3.38 GPA
