KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Western Michigan men's basketball program has earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for the 2025-26 academic year, making it four consecutive years WMU has been honored. Additionally, five Broncos were named to the NABC Honors Court.
 
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes men's basketball programs that completed the 2025-26 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2025-26 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
 
Western Michigan surpassed a 3.0 team GPA in both semesters, including a record-breaking 3.59 GPA in the fall, on the way to a 3.37 team GPA for the entirety of the academic year.
 
This year marks the seventh time WMU has received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. The Broncos are amongst the honorees for the fourth year in a row and the sixth time in the past eight seasons, with Western Michigan also having earned the award in 2019, 2020, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
