KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The New Jersey Devils announced today that the team has signed forward
Dylan Wendt to a two-year, entry-level contract starting in 2024-25. Wendt will join New Jersey's AHL affiliate in Utica on an AHL Amateur Tryout for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Senior Vice President/Assistant General Manager/Utica General Manager Dan MacKinnon.
Wendt ends his Bronco career having played in 111 total games, producing 69 points on 33 goals and 36 assists. In his three years in Kalamazoo, he was able to block 29 shots while adding 10 power-play goals and six game-winning goals. He was a +11 over his three-year career.
The Grand Haven, Mich. native had a career-best junior season, totaling 44 points on 23 goals and 21 assists. Heading into his junior year, Wendt had a line of 10-15-25 in two seasons with the Broncos. In 38 games during the 2023-24 campaign, Wendt was a +10 and recorded a team-best nine power-play goals.
He finished the season on a three-game point streak, earning five points in that stretch. Over the course of the season, Wendt had 11 multi-point games, including a five-point effort in a win over Ferris State to begin the year.
In his three seasons with the program, he helped take WMU to new heights. Western Michigan made the NCAA Tournament in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history. The team also won more than 20 games each year he played.
"Firstly, I want to say thank you to the coaches, staff, my teammates and the fans here at Western Michigan," Wendt said. "I have enjoyed every minute of my three years here and will never forget the memories that I have made. Without Western, I wouldn't be the person or player that I am today. I am blessed to call myself a Bronco for life."
