KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Defenseman
Zach Bookman has signed a standard player contract with the Fort Wayne Komets, the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.
Bookman joined the program this season, leading the Brown and Gold to a 27-win season and a fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. WMU was also a No. 1 seed for the third time in the last five years.
The Manlius, N.Y. native had a strong senior season in Kalamazoo, producing 18 points on five goals and 13 assists. He added 31 blocked shots and was +11. He was named to the Loveland Regional All-Tournament Team after picking up two goals and one assist against Minnesota State and Denver.
The veteran defenseman played in 140 total games, splitting time between WMU and Merrimack. In those 140 outings, Bookman was able to collect 79 points on 16 goals and 63 assists. Bookman was also able to block 144 shots and fired 201 shots on net.
Bookman won 76 games in his career and was a Hobey Baker nominee in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
