KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan has announced its full 2026-27 schedule, which is set to begin on Oct. 3 at Lawson Arena.
The 2026-27 campaign marks the final season at historic Lawson Arena. Fans will have the opportunity to see the Brown and Gold at Lawson 17 times. Additionally, WMU will host an outdoor game at Waldo Stadium in January. That game will not be included in season-ticket packages.
The Broncos have been one of the best programs in the nation over the last five years, winning 131 total games in that stretch. WMU won 27 games and made the NCAA Tournament for a fifth straight year in 2025-26.
The Brown and Gold will open the season with an exhibition against Western Ontario on Saturday, Oct. 3. The two teams last met in 2023, with WMU cruising to a 6-2 victory.
Western Michigan will open the regular season with a home tilt against Ferris State on Thursday, Oct. 8. WMU will then travel to Big Rapids to conclude the series the following night.
Following that, the Broncos will have a home-and-home series with Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish will travel to Kalamazoo on Oct. 16, and the two teams will meet in South Bend, Ind. on Oct. 17. WMU swept the Irish last season.
On Oct. 23, rival Michigan will host the Broncos at Yost Ice Arena. The two teams split last year, with each program winning on home ice. To end the month of October, Long Island will be in town for a pair of games (Oct. 29-30). That will mark the first ever meeting between the two programs.
NCHC play beings on Nov. 6-7 with a road series at North Dakota. The Broncos will then host Colorado College (Nov. 13-14) and travel Omaha (Nov. 20-21) to cap play in November.
December features six games, beginning with a series at home against Miami (Dec. 4-5). The Brown and Gold then travel to Arizona State on Dec. 11-12. After a break, Western Michigan will compete in the GLI (Dec. 29-30) against Michigan State, Michigan Tech and Lindenwood.
January features seven games, with Denver (Jan. 8-9) and Omaha (Jan. 15-16) in town to open the month. The Brown and Gold will then travel to St. Thomas for the first time in program history on Jan. 22-23. The first ever outdoor game at Waldo Stadium caps off the month, as the Broncos host Michigan on Jan. 30.
February will be the final month of the regular season, and the Broncos will host St. Cloud State (Feb. 5-6) and Minnesota Duluth (Feb. 19-20) while traveling to Colorado College (Feb. 12-13) and Miami (Feb. 26-27).
