KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan hockey team has earned a No. 3 seed in the 2023 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament and will play Boston University in Manchester, NH in the opening round of play. The Broncos and Terriers will square off at 2:00 p.m. on March 23 at SNHU Arena. The game will be shown on ESPN2.
The winner between the Broncos and Terriers will play the winner of the other regional semifinal, which features fellow NCHC member Denver and Cornell. The two regional semifinal winners will square off on Saturday, March 25 at 4:00 p.m.
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between Western Michigan and BU. Boston has won all three of the previous matchups. However, the two programs haven't played since the 1994-95 season. Boston has outscored the Broncos 18-7 in those three previous matchups. Boston last beat the Broncos, 5-2, on Dec. 30, 1994.
