KALAMAZOO, Mich. – With the season rapidly approaching, season and single-game tickets are on sale now for the 2023-24 Western Michigan men's and women's basketball seasons.
With second-year head coach
Dwayne Stephens at the helm, the Western Michigan men's team opens up its 2023-24 campaign at home on Monday, Nov. 6, at 7 pm against North Dakota State. On the women's side, head coach
Shane Clipfell is heading into his 12th season leading the Broncos. Coach Clipfell's team begins its home schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7 pm against Valparaiso.
This season marks the first of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge, with both Western Michigan squads set to host a team from the Sun Belt Conference. The Bronco men are slated to welcome Georgia State to University Arena at 1 pm on Saturday, Nov. 11, while the WMU women are scheduled to face a to-be-determined SBC squad at home on Saturday, Feb. 10. The matchup for the Feb. 10 contest will be determined in January based on conference standings.
Among other non-conference matchups on the men's side are St. Thomas (Dec. 1), Youngstown State (Dec. 9) and Aquinas (Dec. 29). The Bronco women's team's non-conference slate also features home tilts against Davenport (Dec. 2), Detroit Mercy (Dec. 6) and Purdue Fort Wayne (Dec. 17).
Both squads are then set for nine home conference games. The women's team begins the new calendar year with its first home league game on Wednesday, Jan. 3, against Ball State. Western Michigan's home MAC slate also includes contests against Miami (Jan. 13), Ohio (Jan. 17), Akron (Jan. 24), Eastern Michigan (Feb. 21), Central Michigan (Feb. 24), Toledo (March 2), Bowling Green (March 6) and Northern Illinois (March 9).
On the men's side, the Broncos open up MAC play with a pair of road games before returning to Kalamazoo for their first home league game on Tuesday, Jan. 9, against Northern Illinois. The rest of WMU's conference schedule includes visits from Ohio (Jan. 13), Eastern Michigan (Jan. 23), Central Michigan (Jan. 27), Ball State (Feb. 3), Miami (Feb. 20), Buffalo (Feb. 24), Bowling Green (March 5) and Akron (March 8).
Both Western Michigan squads also have a home exhibition game scheduled before officially opening up their 2023-24 campaigns. The women welcome Aquinas to University Arena on Sunday, Oct. 29, at 1 pm, while the men host Kalamazoo College on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 7 pm.
Scheduled dates and times are subject to change based on TV selections made by the Mid-American conference and its broadcast partners.
