Women's Soccer Hosts Cincinnati for Annual Pride Game on Thursday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team welcomes Cincinnati for its home-opener and Pride Game at the WMU Soccer Complex on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Broncos also host Oakland on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Thursday's game will also be streamed live on ESPN+, with Sunday's available at www.wmubroncos.com/watch.

The Broncos are still in search of their first win, most recently falling on the road at Arkansas last Thursday but finally get their opportunity to play at home this week. WMU's loss to Arkansas was the third time the team had been shutout this season.

PRIDE
Western Michigan, in conjunction with the WMU Office of LBGT Student Services, are excited to host its annual Pride game. LGBT Student Services will be on hand to hand out informational brochures, flyers for upcoming groups and events and other giveaways.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati (3-1-2) heads into just the third meeting between the two schools on a two-game winning streak. UC scored a season-high five goals in a 5-1 win over Stony Brook last Thursday, while also beating Murray State 2-0 back on Aug. 28.

Megan Smith and Ellie Flower are tied for the team lead in goals scored, each with two. Six other Bearcats have each scored a goal, while Brandi Thomasen also has two assists. Anna Rexford has played every minute in goal for Cincinnati, making 15 saves and recording three shutouts.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
Oakland (3-1-2) battle Michigan State on Thursday before traveling to Kalamazoo on Sunday. The Grizzlies are a perfect 3-0 on the road this season with wins at DePaul, Kent State and Toledo. OU heads into the match against the Spartans on the heels of a 1-0 loss at home to Wake Forest.

Alexa Sabbagh leads the team in goals with two, and points with five, with six other Grizzlies tallying one goal. Noemi Stadelmann has started in all six games, making 22 saves and posting three shutouts.

ON THE HORIZON
WMU heads back on the road next Thursday, heading to Marquette for its final non-conference game of the regular season.
