KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan senior
Mira Pierre-Webster was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced earlier today.
Pierre-Webster helped WMU to an undefeated weekend, showcasing her ability to impact the game on both ends. In a 1-0 win over Eastern Michigan, Pierre-Webster delivered the game-winning goal with under eight minutes to play. The goal was her first of the season. Pierre-Webster and the Bronco defense also limited EMU to three shots on goal.
That was followed by a 4-1 victory over Kent State, where the Canadian defender helped Western Michigan's defense limit the KSU offense to three shots on goal. Pierre-Webster played the full 90 minutes in both matches. She is up to one goal and two assists on the season.
Pierre-Webster and the Broncos will be back in action on Thursday at Akron. The two teams will hit the field at 6:30 PM.
