Broncos Set to Host Central Michigan on Senior Day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team will look to claim another MAC Championship as it hosts rival Central Michigan on Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex. The Broncos will celebrate senior day before the 1 PM match.

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan collected another win, defeating Akron 3-0 on Thursday night. The win pushed WMU to a league-leading 25 points. Buffalo is three points behind the Brown and Gold.

June Mullen and Abby Smothers collected goals, while Akron let in an own goal. Reagan Sulaver collected her seventh shutout of the season in net.

CROWNING A CHAMPION
The Broncos are on the cusp of achieving something no other MAC women's soccer program has accomplished. With a win on Sunday, Western Michigan would earn its third straight regular season MAC Championship.

WMU has lost just once in MAC play over the last three years, holding a 24-1-7 conference record in that stretch. With a win, the Brown and Gold would move into third place all-time in regular season MAC Championships. Only Bowling Green (5) and Ball State (4) would have a higher number.

DREW DELIVERS
Senior midfielder Drew Martin has been a consistent threat for the Broncos, entering Sunday's action with a team-leading 20 points on five goals and 10 assists.

Martin entered the 2025 campaign with nine points in her entire career. She's started all 16 matches this season, playing more than 1100 minutes.

The Bloomfield Hills, Mich. native has at least one point in seven of her last 10 outings, including six points over her last two matches.

Martin's leads the conference in assists and is second in points. Her 10 assists are five more than the next best player. She is just four points behind the league leader.

SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
Central Michigan is winless this season, holding a 0-13-3 overall record and 0-7-3 conference mark. CMU is 0-4-1 over its last five matches.

The overall series is even at 16-16-1, including an 8-8-1 record in Kalamazoo. The series is also even over the last five meetings, with a 2-2-1 record between the programs. The Broncos and Chippewas tied 0-0 last season.

Jimena Perez Ayala and Melaina Troy lead the way for the Chippewas, as they each have four points so far this season. Perez Ayala has two goals, while Troy has chipped in one goal and two assists.

In net, Brylee Borgman has seen the majority of the work. She enters Sunday's match with a 0-7-3 record, 1.73 goals against average and .770 save percentage.
