THE FIRST SERVE
Following its first MAC loss of the season on Tuesday at Northern Illinois, the Broncos head to Akron, Ohio, this weekend to take on the Zips.
LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan is coming off of a five-set defeat at NIU on Tuesday, which snapped WMU's five-match winning streak.
Logan Case (52 assists, 17 digs) and
Maggie King (11 kills, 14 digs) each recorded their fifth double-double of the season in the contest, while
Keona Salesman equaled her career-best with a team-high 17 kills.
SCOUTING THE ZIPS
Akron enters the weekend on a five-match slide following its straight-set loss to Buffalo on Wednesday. The Zips are led by Teagan Ochaya, who is second in the league in total points (198.5), third in total kills (172) and sixth in kills/set (3.31).
ALL-TIME SERIES
WMU is 29-12 all-time against the Zips, including winning 13 of the 14 meetings since 2010. The Broncos have won seven straight at Akron, with their last road loss to the Zips coming in 2009.
KING REIGNS ATOP THE MAC

Maggie King is all over the MAC leaderboards thus far in 2022. King enters the weekend leading the conference in kills (202) and total points (234.0) The Cincinnati native also ranks second in the MAC in kills/set (3.67), points/set (4.25), service aces (26) and aces/set (0.47).
SETTING THE TABLE

Logan Case continues to fuel Western Michigan's offense, as the junior sits atop the MAC and ranks second nationally with 11.49 assists/set. The Maineville, Ohio, native enters the weekend needing 33 assists to become the eighth Bronco in program history to surpass 3,000 career helpers. Going back to the end of the 2021 season, Case has had 30 or more assists in 28 consecutive matches.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
