KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball program and head coach
Colleen Munson rounded out the 2026 schedule by unveiling the team's non-conference slate on Wednesday.
"We could not be more excited to kick off the 2026 season, especially with the opportunity to open at home with our annual tournament," coach Munson said. "Our early-season tournaments will provide a terrific opportunity to be challenged by well-respected programs from across the Midwest, while continuing to grow and develop as a team. Those experiences will serve as valuable preparation as we head into what promises to be another highly competitive MAC season."
Following exhibition contests at Purdue Fort Wayne (Aug. 14) and against Ferris State (Aug. 20), Western Michigan is set to begin the regular season at home for the fourth straight year with a three-day tournament at University Arena. The Broncos start the 2026 campaign by facing Green Bay on Friday, Aug. 28. Also in Kalamazoo for the opening weekend of the season are Navy (Aug. 29) and Indiana State (Aug. 30).
The following week, the Broncos head out to Omaha, Neb., for a tournament which will see them face Omaha (Sept. 3), Chicago State (Sept. 4) and Louisiana Tech (Sept. 5). Western Michigan then travels to East Lansing on Sept. 8 to battle Michigan State for the third consecutive season. WMU swept the Spartans in their last visit to East Lansing in 2024.
From Sept. 12-13, the Brown and Gold head to Chicago to face DePaul and UIC. Western Michigan then closes out non-conference play with two matches in Milwaukee on Sept. 18-19. First up that weekend for the Broncos is St. Thomas, which won the Summit League Volleyball Championship and reached the NCAA Tournament last season. The next day, WMU wraps up non-conference play against Milwaukee.
The 2026 Mid-American Conference schedule, which was
announced back in April, begins on Sept. 25-26, as the Broncos visit Ball State.
