King Collects Third Offensive Player of the Week Award

CLEVELAND – For the third time this season, Western Michigan senior outside hitter Maggie King has been named the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

King totaled 41 kills (5.13/set) on a .304 hitting percentage and tallied 44.0 points (5.50/set) in Western Michigan's two matches over the weekend. The senior added 33 digs for an average of 4.13 per set.

In a straight-set win over Miami on Friday night, King paced the Broncos with 19 kills on a .438 hitting percentage, served up a pair of aces and came one dig shy of a double-double. The following day against Bowling Green, she once again led WMU with 22 kills, and also registered a career-high 24 digs to notch the first 20-20 performance for Western Michigan since Rachel Bontrager in the semifinals of the Spring 2021 MAC Tournament.

King's prowess has helped Western Michigan's offense climb to the top of the MAC in kills/set during league play at 14.15. The Cincinnati native is third in the conference with a 3.59 kills/set average in MAC contests, while teammate Keona Salesman is atop the conference at 4.04 kills per set.

The Broncos continue a four-match homestand this weekend as they welcome Toledo to town. First serve for Friday's series opener against the Rockets is set for 3:30 pm. Tickets for all WMU home volleyball matches can be purchased at wmubroncos.com/tickets.
