KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan hockey team and head coach
Andy Murray have announced the team captains for the upcoming 2021-22 season, with senior forward
Paul Washe once again leading the squad.
Â
Washe is joined by fellow seniors
Ethen Frank and
Josh Passolt as assistant captains, who also served in the same position during the 2020-21 season. The trio chose to come back for an extra year of eligibility given them by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also serving as assistant captains will be defenseman
Ronnie Attard and forward
Drew Worrad.
Â
"Paul, Ethen and Josh did a great job navigating a difficult situation last season," said Murray. "They grew as leaders throughout the year and their leadership was a key part to our success in the second half. We are also very excited about the additions of Ronnie and Drew to our captains this year. Both have shown themselves to be excellent leaders in the weight room, classroom and on the ice.
Â
Washe is the first repeat captain the Broncos have had since Sheldon Dries, who wore the "C" for three seasons.
