AKRON, Ohio – The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up the Akron Invitational on Saturday at the Portage Country Club, finishing in in fourth place.
The Broncos combined to shoot a 311 and finish with a 36-hole total of 619 (+51). The University of Indianapolis claimed the tournament title after shooting a 598 (+30). Eastern Michigan finished in second place and Akron took third. WMU finished ahead of Toledo and Ohio.
Sophomore
Alissa Fish had her best round of the season, shooting a 72 to move up 17 spots from Saturday and finish tied for 16th with a 155 (+13). Junior
Brooke Gibbons also finished tied for 16.
Indianapolis' Cailyn Henderson claimed the individual medalist after shooting 145 (+3).
Junior
Imogen Courtney was WMU's third finisher, tying for 22nd after shooting a 156 (+14).
Fiona Khaing and
Cameryn Lucia finished tied for 27th after shooting a 159 (+17), while
Ella Hoffman-Dick finished with a score of 175 (+33).
Western Michigan heads back to Ohio next weekend and the Silver Lake Country Club for the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships.
