RICHMOND, Ky. – The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the season, finishing off the final round of the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday.
WMU finished tied for 13th with a combined total of 930 (+66) after shooting a 309 on the day. Hosts EKU claimed the team title, with Northern Illinois finishing in second place and Akron in third. The Colonels' Ragga Kristinsdottir was the individual medalist with a three-round total of 209 (-7).
Western Michigan's top finisher was junior
Brooke Gibbons. Gibbons finished off the tournament with her best round, shooting a 75. She combined to shoot a 54-hole total of 228 (+12). Sophomore
Alissa Fish finished just two shots back with a 230 (+14) after shooting a 74 on the day, the lowest single round by any Bronco in the tournament. Senior
Cameryn Lucia posted a 235 (+19), while
Fiona Khaing shot a 243 (+27) and
Imogen Courtney finished two strokes behind her with a 245 (+29).
WMU has a quick turnaround before heading down to Terre Haute, Ind., on Sunday for the Indiana State Spring Invitational.
