WMU golf adds Stendahl to 2026-27 roster

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's golf program and Head Coach Matt Zedrick have announced the signing of Abigail Stendahl to a National Letter of Intent prior to the 2026-27 season.

Bronco golf adds another talented freshman to their roster ahead of the 2026-27 season this fall in Stendahl. "We are very excited to add Abby to our incoming freshmen class!" says Zedrick. "She has an incredible competitive spirit and love for the game.
"Abby has just begun to scratch the surface of what she's capable of competitively. I can't wait to watch her grow as a player and person during her career as a Bronco."

A native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Stendahl spent her prep career with Maple Grove High School, competing with the golf program for six seasons. While with the Crimson, Stendahl was part of two MSHSL Class AAA State Championships in 2023 and 2024 followed by two Class AAA State Runner-Up finishes.

As an individual, Stendahl finished in 20th in the 2026 MSHSL State Tournament with rounds of 77-77-79 for a total of 233 (+17). The incoming freshman set both a personal and program record for lowest round score a week and a half prior at the 5AAA Section Tournament Final. Stendahl shot a round of 67 at five under par to end the tournament, placing second behind fellow teammate Payton Anderson.

During her senior campaign, Stendahl earned Lake Conference All-Conference honors and All-State honors. It was the second straight All-Conference honor for Stendahl in her career while it was her first time on the All-State team.

Stendahl is the daughter of Derek and Jenny Stendahl. Her older brother Ryan also plays collegiate golf and is a junior on the men's golf team at the University of Minnesota. Stendahl plans to major in business law at Western Michigan this fall.
