AKRON, Ohio -- The Western Michigan women's golf team had its best performance at the Mid-American Conference Championships in three years this week.

Following the final round of the 2026 MAC Championship, the Broncos placed sixth of 10 teams at 53 over par with a score of 893. The Brown and Gold had four of their five players finish in the Top 30 individually, while the team was 10 strokes ahead of seventh place Northern Illinois.

After a tough second round that dropped Western Michigan three places overall, the Broncos bounced back in the final round on Tuesday to move up a spot to sixth. Vallbhaneni improved her overall standing by a spot on Tuesday with rounds of 69-77-72 to end the tournament at eight over par. Sophomore Lauren Lupinek was WMUs next highest finisher at 24th, moving up three spots from Monday. Lupinek carded rounds of 72-78-73 for a final score of 223 (+13).

Junior Macy Beeson was the Broncos final golfer in the tournament, ending the three rounds with a score of 248 (+38). Beeson had rounds of 82-81-85 from Sunday to Tuesday afternoon.

Kent State was the team champions for the 27th consecutive season on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Flashes finished the tournament at nine under par with rounds of 278-278-275 for a final of 831. WMU ends the season breaking two different program scoring records. The Brown and Gold averaged a team score of 304.3 through the 2025-26 season, which breaks the program record for lowest team stroke average in a single season. Vallabhaneni also ends her Western Michigan career in the record books with the program's lowest single season scoring average. The Northville native averaged 74.5 strokes a round in 2025-26 through 33 rounds of competition, beating the record Jasmine Chee set in the COVID shortened 2019-20 season.
