KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team travels on the road to Ball State to take on the Cardinals on Friday at 3 p.m. at BSU's Briner Sports Complex.

Western Michigan opened up MAC play last week going 2-0 with a 1-0 road-win over Northern Illinois and a 4-0 win against Eastern Michigan at Waldo Stadium.
 
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ball State split its opening week of play, downing Toledo, 2-0, at home and then falling in overtime at Central Michigan 2-1.
 
Junior forward Tatiana Mason has scored two of the team's three goals on the season and has 10 goals in her career. Last season she had 15 points on six goals and three assists. Senior defender Shelby Kean has one goal, the game-winner in the blanking of the Rockets. Senior Maitane Bravo started both games between the sticks, making six saves so far this season.
 
DUECES
In Western Michigan's 4-0 win over Eastern Michigan two Broncos scored a brace. Sophomore Suzuna Shibukawa and freshman Kayla Whelchel each bagged two goals. Shibukawa doubled her total from last season, after scoring one goal during her freshman campaign. Shibukawa also added an assist, leading her to winning MAC West Offensive Player of the Week.  
 
OUTBURST
WMU's four goals scored in the win over EMU is the most in a MAC game under second-year head coach Sammy Boateng. It was also the first four-goal outburst in a conference game since Oct. 25, 2018 in a 4-0 win over Northern Illinois.
 
ON THE HORIZON
The Broncos stay on the road to start their action next week, traveling to Mount Pleasant to take on Central Michigan on Thursday at 3 p.m. WMU returns home on Sunday for a 2 p.m. showdown with Toledo.
