WMU Heads to In-State Rival Central Michigan Saturday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the second time this season the Western Michigan men's basketball team will square off with its in-state rival, traveling to Mount Pleasant to take on Central Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into Saturday's contest with an overall record of 3-11 and 2-7 in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos are coming off a 76-70 road victory at Bowling Green on Wednesday.

Sweep the Chips
With a win on Saturday WMU can earn a regular season sweep of Central Michigan for the first time since 2016.

Rivalry Games
Since 2010, WMU and CMU have met on the court 25 times with 15 of those games having being decided by single digits. Of the 25 games, the average margin of victory has been 9.5 points.

Bates To Do What Few Have Done
With a win on Saturday, first year head coach Clayton Bates can become the fifth coach in school history to sweep Central Michigan in the regular season in his first year.

"Lee"-ding the Way
Senior forward Greg Lee over the past five games is averaging 16.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Lee is also shooting a stellar 57.8 percent from the field over the past five games.

Double Digit White
In 14 games this season, sophomore B. Artis White has scored in double figures in 11 to lead the Broncos. White leads the Broncos this season at 13.6 points per game.

Big Wright
Sophomore center Titus Wright is shooting 54.9 percent from the field this season, ranking third in the MAC.

Fab Freshman
Freshman Josiah Freeman is the leading freshman off the bench for WMU, averaging 4.2 points per game. Freeman ranks fifth amongst all "true" freshman in the MAC in scoring. Freeman matched his career-high at Bowling Green with nine points and was a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the three-point line.

What's Ahead?
Following Saturday's contest the Broncos continue road play in the MAC with a trip to Buffalo on Tuesday, Feb. 6. WMU's next home game is set for Saturday, Feb. 13 at 12:00 p.m. against Ohio.
