WELCOME TO WESTERN
Seven players made their Western Michigan debut in the team's season opener against Hope College. One of the newcomers has led the Broncos in scoring in each of the first three games, as Lamar Norman Jr. has scored 20+ points to pace the WMU offense in both home games, while Mack Smith knocked down three triples to net a team-leading 13 points in the setback at Michigan State.
SCORIN' NORMAN
Lamar Norman Jr. has gotten his WMU career off to a fast start, averaging a team-high 17.7 points, third-most in the MAC. The junior is one of just two players in the league to have a pair of 20+ point efforts this season. Norman has been efficient as well, knocking down 48.7 percent from the field (8th in the MAC) and 48.1 percent from downtown (5th). At 4.3 made three-pointers per game, he is averaging one more make than the next closest player in the conference.
MAKING HIS MARK
Redshirt sophomore Markeese Hastings has burst onto the scene in his first few games as a Bronco after arriving from Butler in the offseason. The Wyoming, Mich., native led WMU in rebounding in each of the first two games, snagging a career-high 10 against Hope and then eight more against MSU. Hastings currently ranks in the top-10 in the MAC in total rebounds (7.3, T-9), offensive rebounds (2.3, 5th) and blocks (1.0, T-7).
