Hockey Adds Cam Knuble for 2020-21 Season

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team and head coach Andy Murray have announced the addition of Cam Knuble to the freshman class for the 2020-21 season.

Knuble joins the Broncos after three seasons in the USHL, including two with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The 6-foot, 200-pound right-shot forward makes the short move south, being a native of Grand Rapids. He appeared in 118 career games in the USHL and served as an assistant captain for the Lumberjacks last season. Prior to his time in the USHL he played for the Fox Motors youth hockey organization.

"Cam is a player that made a late change in his college commitment and we are excited to have him in our program," said Murray. "Cam is a quality young man and his versatility as a player is something we need. We believe that he will thrive in our culture and that his best hockey days are in front of him.

Knuble is the son former NHLer Mike Knuble, who played in over 1,100 career games in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Washington Capitals. He won a Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 1998 and won a NCAA National Championship with the University of Michigan in 1994. Mike served as an assistant coach for the Grand Rapids Griffins and works with the Fox Motors Hockey.
