WMU Hosts Kent State in Back End of Saturday Doubleheader

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team looks to get back on the winning track hosting Kent State in the back end of a doubleheader of Saturday, Feb. 18. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 p.m. inside University Arena.

Doubleheader Ticket Exchange
It's double the action inside University Arena on Saturday with the women's basketball team beginning the doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. against Central Michigan. A women's ticket stub can be redeemed for a FREE upper level ticket to the men's game at 4:30 p.m. A men's game ticket is also good for general admission seating for the women's game.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan looks to halt its three-game skid as the Broncos head into Saturday's contest with an overall record of 8-9 and 1-3 in Mid-American Conference play. At home WMU is 6-2 this season and averaging 79.6 points per game at home.

Junior Michael Flowers has totaled 308 points in 17 games this season, averaging 18.1 points per game. Flowers is the third fastest Bronco under head coach Steve Hawkins to eclipse the 300-point mark in a season.

An Elite Scorer
Flowers ranks second in the MAC at 18.1 points per game and ranks in the top 10 in the MAC in free-throw percentage (2nd - .862) and three-point field goal percentage (9th - .398).

Both Michael Flowers and redshirt junior Brandon Johnson are closing in on 1,000 career points. Flowers is just 112 points away while Johnson was 216 points away.

It will be the second straight game WMU is facing an opponent that is ranked in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. On Tuesday WMU fell to Bowling Green who was ranked 22nd while Kent State is ranked 8th.

Freshman Finding His Footing
Freshman B. Artis White over the past five games is averaging 12.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while being tied for the team lead with 10 three-pointers. For the season White ranks third on the team at 8.4 points per game.

Scouting the Opponent
Kent State is currently ranked 8th in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll with an overall record of 13-4 and 3-1 in MAC play. The Golden Flashes began conference play with victories over BGSU, Toledo and CMU before falling to Miami on Tuesday night.
