Western Michigan Lands Hawaii Transfer Isaac Finlinson

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan head men's basketball coach Kahil Fennell has announced the signing of Hawaii transfer Isaac Finlinson.

A 6-8 forward from St. George, Utah, Finlinson is set to arrive in Kalamazoo from Hawaii, where he played in all 33 games last season for a squad which went 24-9, won the Big West Conference Tournament and reached the program's first NCAA Tournament since 2016. Finlinson came on strong in the second half of the season, starting each of the team's final 16 contests and averaging 11.2 points per game as a member of the starting lineup. A College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection, he totaled 9.2 points and 3.6 rebounds for the year while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from three-point range.

Before heading out to Hawaii, Finlinson spent a pair of seasons at Snow College in his home state of Utah. He racked up the accolades in his time with the Badgers, taking home the NJCAA Division I Player of the Year, JUCO Jam Media National Player of the Year and the NABC Player of the Year in his second season. That year, he averaged 18.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52.0 percent from the floor for a Snow squad which went 32-2. He was also named Scenic West Player of the Year and selected to the NJCAA Division I All-America First Team. In his first season, he tallied 13.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest while connecting on 53.0 percent of his shots and was tabbed as a First Team Academic All-American. Prior to Snow, he spent a redshirt season at Utah Tech in 2022-23.

Finlinson prepped at Dixie High School in St. George, Utah, where he was a two-time region MVP and region champion. He poured in more than 1,000 points in his high school career, and as a senior racked up 21.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. In 2020, he led Dixie to a 4A State Championship.
