Men’s Basketball Hosts NIU to Begin Three-Game Homestand

KALAMAZOO, Mich. –  Western Michigan men's basketball begins a stretch of three home games in five days beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 12 against Northern Illinois.

Scouting the Broncos
WMU is coming off a 79-59 loss at Ball State last Saturday and currently sits with an overall record of 6-17, 0-10 in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos are led by the trio of sophomore Michael Flowers and seniors Seth Dugan and Josh Davis who account for 61.3 percent of WMU's total offense.

The Streak Against the Huskies
Western Michigan has won 12 straight match-ups inside University Arena against Northern Illinois, with its last loss at home to NIU coming in 2006. The Broncos hold a 37-8 advantage all-time in Kalamazoo against the Huskies.

Double-Double Dugan
Senior Seth Dugan has amassed 10 double-doubles this season, ranking second in the conference and 27th in the NCAA. Dugan's 10 double-doubles is the most since Shayne Whittington had 14 during the 2013-14 season.

Flowers Can Score
Sophomore Michael Flowers leads all "true" underclassmen and ranks seventh in the MAC overall at 16.4 points per game. Flowers has 10 games over 20 points or more this season and in conference play alone is averaging 16.8 points per game.

High Quality Three-Point Shooting
Freshman William Boyer-Richard leads the conference in three-point field goal percentage at 50 percent. Boyer-Richard is tied for third on the team with 24 threes'.

To Think He's Just a Freshman
Freshman Patrick Emilien has been an offensive spark for the Broncos over the past four games, averaging 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds. At Ball State on Saturday, the Toronto, Canada native had eight points and four rebounds.

Scouting the Opponent
Northern Illinois is currently riding a three-game losing streak and heads into Tuesday's contest with an overall record of 12-12, 5-6 in MAC play. The Huskies dropped a 57-49 decision at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
NIU has three players averaging in double figures led by senior guard Eugene German at 20.0 points per game. German ranks second in the MAC in scoring and ninth in field goal percentage.
