KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team continued its annual WMU Vredevelt Invitational on Saturday, as the team finished 14-7 overall in two singles rounds. Senior
Lenhard Haupt will play in the Flight A Championship while junior
Kennosuke Nouchi will take on the Flight B Championship to conclude the invitational tomorrow.

Saturday consisted of two rounds of singles out on the Sorensen Courts. The Broncos conclude the weekend with day three of the invitational starting Sunday, Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. Admission to all home WMU tennis matches is free.
Freshmen teammates
Jack Randall and
Peter Kuszynski both picked up their first Bronco singles victories on the day, as the two both went 1-1. Randall defeated Mason Dragos from Butler in a tight three-set match before falling in the semifinals to Valparaiso's Brandon Ancona in three sets as well. Kuszynski will play for third place in Flight D after defeating Jeremy Yuan from Chicago in two sets before falling in the semis to Tripp Tuff of DePaul.
Haupt boosted himself into the Flight A Championship with a pair of straight set victories over his opponents. The German will face off against Luka Soskic from Detroit Mercy tomorrow to claim the No. 1 singles player title. Nouchi also went 2-0 and will participate in the Flight B Championship match against Notre Dame's Daniel Rayl.
Other players who went 1-1 and will play for third place in their respected flights consist of senior captain
Matej Svjetlicic (Flight B), senior
Eric Olivarez (Flight C), Randall (Flight C), Kuszynski (Flight D), and
Zac Faveri (Flight F).
After dropping his first match in Flight A, junior
Jannik Opitz bounced back to defeat Notre Dame's Nathan Giffin 6-4, 6-2, sending himself to the consolation draw championship. Senior
Nick Schnobel will also take place in the consolation championship but in Flight D. Senior
Kris Knof earned three wins in his respected flight that consisted of an eight-game pro set round robin.
