EVENT BREAKDOWN
THURSDAY
- Heptathlon: Junior
Allison Hufnagel and freshman Claire Lycan will compete in the event that stretches to Friday. Hufnagel currently ranks third in the MAC after putting up 4,700 points at the Drake Relays. Hufnagel scored at last year's MAC Championship, taking seventh with 4,796.
- Hammer Throw, 10 a.m.: The Broncos send out senior
Brittany Casey and freshman
Aniya Davis to compete in Thursday's hammer throw. Casey rankes seventh heading into the event with a season-best throw of 178' 10" (54.40 meters). Last season she finished fifth to score for the first time in her career with the third-best distance in program history of 184' 4" (56.18m).
- Javelin Throw, 2:30 p.m.: Junior Audrey Osawlt is the lone representative for WMU in the javelin throw. Oswalt ranks ninth in the MAC with a distance of 135' 2" (41.21m).
- 1,500-Meter Run Trials, 4:30 p.m.: Senior
Claire Gilbert will look to earn a spot in Saturday's finals and enters the race with a seed time of 4:40.48.
- 400-Meter Hurdles Trials, 5:05 p.m.: Sophomore
Erin Dowd and Hufnagel will compete for a chance at Saturday's finals. Dowd is having the best season of her career and ranks third in the event with a seed time of 59.28 seconds.
- 200-Meter Dash Trials, 5:40 p.m.: Sophomore
Madison Meredith is Western Michigan's lone representative in the 200-meter dash trials. Meredith has a seed time of 24.50 seconds.
- 10,000-Meter Run, 6:15 p.m.: Senior
Hanne Christensen will once again compete in the 10,000-meter run. Christensen scored last season in the event, taking sixth place with a time of 35:42.27. The Grand Blanc, Mich., native ranks sixth with a seed time of 35:14.38.
FRIDAY
- Shot Put, 12:30 p.m.: Senior
Savannah Dugan and freshman
Abena Atuobi will start off the field events on Friday. Dugan ranks 11th (46' 1.25"/14.05m) and Atuobi sits right behind her in 12th.
- Long Jump, 12:30 p.m.: The young pair of sophomore
Erica Sheahan and freshman
Diamond Mitchell will tackle the long jump. Sheahan ranks eighth heading into the weekend (19' 1.5"/5.83m). Mitchell has come close to breaking 19 feet this season and sits with a seed distance of 18' 10.75" (5.76m)
- 100-Meter Hurdles Trials, 1:00 p.m.: It will be redshirt sophomore
Gabrielle Collins and junior
Diana Holsey in the 100-meter hurdles. Collins ranks ninth with a seed time of 14.20 seconds and finished in eighth place at last season's MAC Championship.
- 400-Meter Dash Trials, 1:40 p.m.: Senior
Davonne Bolden will have one last go at the 400-meter dash, hoping to earn a spot in Saturday's final along with freshman
Ashley Worford. Bolden has the top seed time between the duo at 56.05 seconds.
- 100-Meter Dash Trials, 2:20 p.m.: Meredith is the top-ranked Bronco in the 100-meter dash. Her seed time of 11.64 ranks her second, just .06 off the top park by Daziah Green from Akron.
Diamond Mitchell will also be running in the race and has a seed time of 12 seconds flat.
- 800-Meter Run Trials, 3:00 p.m.: WMU will have three athletes competing in the 800-meter run trials.
Sarah Anderson is the top-ranked runner in the event. Her seed time is 2:05.95 and nearly three seconds faster than Akron's Mackenzie Andrews. Sophomore
Juliane Sormain and junior
Haley Ritsema will also compete in the race.
- 3,000-Meter Steeplechase, 3:40 p.m.: The final event on Friday will feature senior
Makenzie Evers in the steeplechase. Evers enters the event with a seed time 11:42.06.
SATURDAY (Features finals in the 1,500m, 100m hurdles, 400m dash, 100m dash, 800m run, 400m hurdles, and 200m dash)
- Discus, 11:00 a.m.: Only freshman
Aniya Davis qualified in the discus throw. She has a season and team-best distance of 139' 9" (42.60 meters) at the Jesse Owens Classic.
- High Jump, 11:00 a.m.:
Kaydon Fosler joins Hufnagel in the high jump and the two are only separated by a centimeter in seed marks. Hufnagel ranks in at seventh with a height of 5' 6" (1.68m), while Fosler sits at 5' 5.75" (1.67m).
- 4x100-Meter Relay, 12:00 p.m.: The lineup of Mitchell, Meredith, Alex Bryant and Worford are slated to compete in the 4x100 (lineup subject to change). The team enters the race ranked sixth in the MAC with a seed time of 46.25 seconds.
- Triple Jump, 1:30 p.m.: Sheahan and Collins will both compete in the triple jump. Sheahan holds the highest seed mark between the two at 37' 5.25" (11.41m).
- 5,000-Meter Run, 3:05 p.m.: Redshirt junior
Maria McDaniel makes her return to the Outdoor MAC Championship after a two-year absence due to injury. She is ranked 11th in the event and has a seed time of 16:54.64. Gilbert also is slated to compete and has a entry time of 17:@6.41.
- 4x400-Meter Relay, 3:45 p.m.: The Broncos will send out Anderson, Dowd, Bolden and Worford to wrap up the meet in the 4x400. The group has the third-best seed time heading into the race at 3:$0.56, just .56 behind Kent State.
