Broncos Host Kalamazoo College in Final Exhibition

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan men's basketball has its final exhibition on Saturday Nov. 3 as the Broncos welcome neighbor Kalamazoo College to University Arena. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan readies to head into the 2018-19 campaign with a young squad as the Broncos have nine underclassmen on its roster. The Brown & Gold return nine form last year's team that went 17-15 and 9-9 in conference play.

WMU Picked Fourth in MAC West Preseason Poll
As voted on by the leagues' coaches and media, Western Michigan was picked to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference west division while receiving one first-place vote. WMU also received one vote to win the conference tournament.

Second Half Surge Lifts  WMU Past Northwood in First Exhibition
In its first exhibition last Saturday, WMU used a 23-9 run during the first 10 minutes of the second half to defeat Northwood University, 86-66. Against the Timberwolves, WMU had four players score in double figures with senior Seth Dugan leading the way with 24 points and eight rebounds.

Home Sweet Home
The Broncos have won double digit games at home in eight consecutive seasons. Under head coach Steve Hawkins, WMU is 163-42 at University Arena.

Scouting the Competition
Last season Kalamazoo College finished with an overall record of 8-17 and 3-11 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) play. The Hornets leading returning scorer is junior forward Ben Reiter who averaged 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 2017.  

On the Horizon
Western Michigan begins the 2018-19 campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m. against Detroit Mercy. Following the contest against the Titans, the Broncos hit the road for two straight at Ole Miss (Nov. 10) and at Oakland (Nov. 13).
