PORTAGE, Mich. – The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up its home tournament, the 2017 KZoo Classic, taking third overall at The Moors Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Bowling Green took first place with a three-round score of 915 (+51) after shooting a final round of 314. Central Michigan took second place, finishing just two shots ahead of the Broncos at 935 (+71). WMU finished with 937 (+73) and was followed by Ohio in fourth at 951 (+87). Eastern Michigan finished in a distant fifth place at 965 (+101) and Wisconsin-Green Bay finished in last at 971 (+101).

BGSU's Erin Fahey claimed the medalist spot after beating out EMU's Thelma Beck in a one-hole playoff. Both finished at 224 (+8) but Fahey scored a par on the 10th hole to edge out beck for the title. Western Michigan placed two in the top 10, led by senior Julia Champion and her third-place finish. Champion finished just two shots off the pace at 226 (+10), while sophomore Jasmine Chee finished tied for seventh with a 54-hole total of 235 (+19).

"We didn't have our best over the last two days as a team," said head coach Elise Swartout-Mosher. "We continue to learn a lot on the golf course. Congrats to Julia on her top five finish this week. She really hit the ball well over three rounds. We are looking forward to some good practice ahead of our last fall tournament at Eastern."

The Broncos now wrap up the fall, heading to the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational on Oct. 9-10
