Game Quotes
WMU vs. Ferris State
3-12-11
Jerry KuhnOn
tonight's play:
“Definitely. The guys came out ready to play. You could tell from the drop of the puck. To be honest, we came out hot. I think
tomorrow is going to be even hotter for us.”
On being able to finish out close games:
“It's
all about not protecting the lead, we just have to keep doing what
we're doing. I think we really committed to that, and committed to
winning, so we were able to close this game out.”
On his first playoff win:
“It's
exciting. My grandma is actually here, and every time she comes we end
up losing, but we got a win. I got the game puck for her, so this ones
for her.”
On
tomorrow's game:
“It's going to be intense. Hopefully the fans come back out, it's a
Sunday, but what else is there to do on a
Sunday?”
Shane Bershbach
On his knee
“It feels good. I got better last week with the week off.”
On getting back into playing shape:
“It's different, it's a lot tougher getting back into game shape.”
On his goal:
“I
got hit pretty hard on the boards, and the puck got dumped in the
corner, so I figured why not throw it there. It went off a skate and I
got lucky”
On what to expect
tomorrow night:
“A harder game than
tonight. It's going to be a tough battle and a 60 minute game.”
Danny DeKeyserOn his goal:
“We
were working it around for a while. There were a lot of good
opportunities. Campbell dropped it back to me and it went of someone's
leg, but, I'll take it.”
On preparing for
tonight's game:
“We wanted to come out as hard as we could. They came out hard as well. We told ourselves we have to bring all we have
tonight.”
On what to expect
tomorrow night:
“I think it's going to take the same effort as
tonight. It'll be low scoring, we'll grind it out; it's going to be a battle.”
Trevor EliasOn Ferris State's defense:
“They took it to us in the first game, but we came out hard
tonight, and gave it our all.”
On
Jerry Kuhn's play:
“It was a big night for Jerry. We know that he's going to play good, especially
tonight. He's a senior, it could be his last game as a Bronco, so he stepped up big
tonight.”
On his goal:
“Unbelievable. I got to redeem myself a bit there, so that felt good.”
On
tomorrow nights game:
“I
think it's going to get more intense as it goes on. Our guys are in
shape; we've been preparing all year. We're ready for them.”
Coach Blashill
Thoughts on the game:
“First
of all, it was a tight game, Ferris played well and it was an extremely
hard game. Getting the first goal was very important, and something
we're going to have to work toward
tomorrow as well.”
On game differences between tonight and
yesterday:
“I thought we played with more urgency tonight. For whatever reason
last night we didn't seem to have the same jump in our step
tonight. It's going to have to be the same
tomorrow.
It's going to be a battle playing three in a row. You have to come up
with energy, and whichever team does that is going to win the game.”
On
Jerry Kuhn:
I
thought Jerry was very good. He made a big time save at the end of the
second that could have tied it 2-2. Jerry is a great goal tender.”
On pre-season conditioning playing a factor:
“You
have to come up with as most energy as you can. We work hard, and they
work hard, so it's going to come down to that. It could be very
neutral, and then it comes down to who makes a great play at the right
moment.”
On Shane Bershback:
“He felt more comfortable
from the drop of the puck tonight. You have to get into a game situation
to feel it out. We played him normally
last night, and I thought he was ready for it. You still have to gain confidence from taking hits, and he feels good.”
On Western's defense:
“I
think to be successful you have to be committed, and being committed
means paying the price and blocking shots. That to me is one of the
biggest signs of toughness. Our guys did a good job of that
tonight, as did their guys, it was a very close game.”
